Help Fight Alzheimer's! Get this Donation Pack!

This Friday is THE LONGEST DAY. . . .it's summer solstice & it's also the day the Alzheimer's Association has set this day aside to honor those living with Alzheimer's (that's my mom!) and their caregivers (that's me!). It's a day meant to support Alzheimer's Awareness.

From the website:  "The event is about patience, strength and endurance – but it’s also about a challenge. On The Longest Day, do something you love – or try something new – to advance the cause! For people facing Alzheimer’s disease, this challenge is every day." The challenge is to gather a team, choose something to do from sunrise to sunset and raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

My family has chosen to BOWL from sunrise-to-sunset because bowling was/is one of my mom's favorite things to do. As a matter of fact, she calls the Day Adult Care that she goes to every day the "Bowling Alley" (I haven't figured out why, exactly, but I'm hoping it's because she enjoys going there and associates that
feeling with the old days at the real bowling alley!). We also thought it was perfect because there are so many ways to bowl: at a traditional bowling alley, at home on your wii, outside with a lawn bowling game....heck! you can even pull out the kids' toy bowling set and enjoy a game!!

Alzheimer's is such a terrible, ugly disease. There is no cure, and it's so much more than loss of memory. Did you know that Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death? That's right. Alzheimer's is fatal. And it seems that this horrible disease has touched almost everyone. That's why it's so important to work together to fight against Alzheimer's and work toward finding a cure. I hope that you will help!

Some super talented bloggers have donated products to a fundraising pack to help raise money for Alzheimer's care, support, and research. Over $70 worth of fabulous items! All for a small donation of $10!

So how does this work?
  • Click on the Alzheimer's button or the bowling pins. This will take you to my donation page. From there:
  • Click on the yellow DONATE button.
  • Enter your info, choose OTHER for your donation amount.
  • Type 10.00 into the "other" box that pops up.
  • VERY IMPORTANT-- Make sure you select Name, Message, & Donation Amount -- this is where I will get your email. LEAVE YOUR EMAIL IN THE MESSAGE! Otherwise, I will not know where to send your zip file!
  • Fill out the rest of the info, scroll down & click "Confirm Donation", & you are all set!
  • I will send out the entire pack to everyone who donates each Saturday.
Please share this on your blog!

  11. This a great cause you are supporting. Both of my parents had dementia. We knew my mother had it but did not realize my dad had it until it was too late. He was always so sharp and could remember dates etc. and it was not evident with him as it was with my Mama. I lost my Mama the day before Mother's Day in 2007 and lost my dad last July 4th. The hard part about dementia is that you lose your loved one little by little. It's tragic. My heart goes out to you and your family. I know how heart wrenching it can be. I went to your donation page and donated $10.00 but clicked the wrong message option and I could not go back and change it. Besides the donation, let me know if you have another fundraiser and need a product donation. I have a TPT store and would be glad to donate. Sometimes it helps to know that other people care and have been in your shoes. I cried when I saw this post because it hit so close to home. Take care of yourself and stay strong. With Compassion and understanding, Evelyn

  18. Apparently I need a reading comprehension program, didn't realize until it was too late that e-mails went in the "In Honor Of" box. Oh Well. Happy to donate $15 to a good cause. My grandfather suffered horribly with it and in turn his caregivers. Thanks for putting this all together.
